lovely, lovely soundtrack. so refreshing to hear something like this from Alex Turner, a genuis, quite frankly. this is pretty, and light on the ears, yet at the same time deep and emotive. it makes you cry, yet you dont feel sad. its so beautiful to hear something like this, and the fact that people dont quite understand how breathtaking it is is shocking. go and listen to it now kids. you do not want to miss out on something very special and iconic for our generation.

whoever suggested Piledriver Waltz to me. god bless you.

Black Treacle - Arctic Monkeys

this song is very arctic-monkeys esque. there is a definate sound that they have; their first two albums are more reflective of this i think, however in this song it is brought back a little. the vocals are very well suited to this song, as it is a very Alex Turner vocal suited song; anyone else singing this would be wrong. however i couldn’t finish it, as it does go on for a little too long; three minutes would have been enough.

Brick by Brick - Arctic Monkeys

Alex Turner’s voice sounds very different in this song, not sure if that’s a good thing, his voice is very unique and makes it very easy to recognise a song by him. the rhythm change in the middle is very clever, and i like the general mood of the song. this is definately one of my favourites of theirs, and i like the general sound of the ‘Suck it and See’ album from what i have heard so far. i think that their sound is quite obviously maturing with their age, and i prefer the last two albums to the first two.

What the Water Gave Me - Florence and the Machine

this is a lovely son, i was getting ready to be like ‘meh’ but its a really powerful song. to me, her voice can sometimes be irritating, she has a powerful voice and sometimes she just doesn’t know how to ‘control’ it, but in this song it’s perfect. its soft and haunting, but still powerful like it normally is. this has to be one of my favourites out of hers that i have heard.

Charlie Brown - Coldplay

couild only get the live version which is annoying because i always feel like i can never hear the song properly if i’m hearing it recorded live.

again, another alright song. i have nothign against it, it wasn’t bad in any way, but i just stopped listening half way through, which is what happens with most coldplay songs. songs like Paradise and Strawberry Swing are the ones where i have thought ‘oh wow’ because chris martin has really impressed.
